Job Descriptions

  • Region Director
    The Regional Directors shall participate in the policy making activities of the National Board of Directors acting in the best interests of the Fraternity, and are encouraged to actively participate in National Committees. They shall be elected in the manner prescribed in Article XI, Section 2 of these Bylaws to serve until the next National Convention.
    The Regional Director shall be the administrative director of the Region represented. The Regional Director shall enforce due observance of the National Bylaws and Standard Chapter Articles of Association, and shall maintain the standards of the Fraternity throughout the Region.
    The Regional Director shall facilitate communication among Chapters and Sections within the Region and between the Chapters and Sections in the Region and the National Office. Regional Directors are responsible for developing and implementing activities to meet the components of National Goals for their respective Regions and have responsibility for maintaining a positive relationship with university faculty and staff of the Region on behalf of the National Fraternity.
  • Section Chair The Fraternity’s By-Laws (Article X, Section 2) provide for the election of a Sectional Chair for a one-year term. Election shall be by majority vote of those Chapters present and voting at a Sectional Conference.
    The Chair is responsible for the maintenance and growth of Alpha Phi Omega within the Section. Developing and giving leadership to programs which will assist Chapters in their operations and which will lead to the establishment of new Chapters is a major objective.
  • Awards Chair The Awards Chair will promote and encourage chapters to seek National Awards. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed. This chair will also educate chapters on these awards, as well as Regional, Sectional and Chapter awards and appreciation, including Distinguished Service Keys and Chapter of Excellence.
  • Communications Chair The Communication Chair will maintain the Region X Website, maintain chapter contact information, help promote National, Regional and Section activities. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Alumni Association Chair The Alumni Association Chair will provide communication to our Region X alumni and also alumni living in Region X that have moved into our Region. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed. This chair will seek to update and improve alumni contact information. Alumni gatherings will be organized by this group. This chair promotes alumni involvement as staff support. This chair and committee will seek National Alumni Association recognition and help create geographic and chapter associations as needed.
  • Internal Volunteer Development Chair The Internal Volunteer Development Chair will seek chapter members and alumni with the skills or potential to fill all vacant Region and Section leadership positions. This chair will promote the National Volunteer Conference.
  • Leadership Development Chair The Leadership Development chair will promote and aid in APO LEADS programming for our chapters. This chair will serve on the National Leadership Development Committee. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Friendship Chair The Friendship Chair will promote social activities in the region and also Inter-chapter activities. This chair will serve on the National Friendship Committee. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Membership & Retention Chair The Membership & Retention Chair will support chapter recruiting efforts, support and provide programming for retention, and promote chapters to seek the National Chapter of Excellence Award. This chair will serve on the National Membership Committee. The chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Scouting & Youth Services Chair The Scouting & Youth Services Chair will promote chapter involvement with Scouting and Youth Services related community organizations. This chair will promote Alpha Phi Omega to these organizations in effort to build better relationships for activities as well as chapter recruiting. This chair will serve on the National Scouting and Youth Services Committee. The chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Service Chair The Service Chair will promote participation in and reporting of National Service Week and Spring Youth Services Day to our chapters. This chair will serve on the National Service Committee. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Chapter Reestablishment Chair The Chapter Reestablishment Chair will seek to re-establish our current chapters with no members back into Good Standing. This chair will initiate contact with students, staff, administrations, past advisors where applicable and alumni to re-establish these chapters. This chair shall recruit and recommend Sponsors to the Region X Director. A program of education and guidance for the re-established chapter will be developed, similar to the APO national Extension Charter Program that will aid the chapter in establishing a healthy chapter. This chair will work with the Sponsor and Section Chair to guide this chapter back into "Good Standing" as noted by our National Office Reporting requirements. This chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
  • Extension Chair The Extension Chair will promote and support Extension Activities to new chapters in the Region. This role will be both responsive to students/staff contacting us and also initiating contacts with our Target Schools to place chapters on their campus. Communications will be made with Dean of Students/ VP Student Affairs representatives, past advisors where applicable, alumni and university staffs seeking to start chapters. This role shall recruit and recommend Sponsors to the Region X Director. The Extension Chair will stay involved with Extension Group activities through the Chartering and New Chapter Support time period. This role will serve on the National Extension Committee. The chair shall develop a committee of alumni and/or chapter members as needed.
